Health and Safety

At PS196Q, students' health and safety come first.  From our social-emotional curriculum, to following all New York City guidelines, we ensure that our students are in a safe environment at all times.

This year, the NYC DOE (Department of Education) is no longer requiring Covid health screenings, in order to enter DOE buildings.  You can keep up on all the latest DOE health and safety guidelines, by visiting their website.

The DOE has also created a Parent Guide to School Safety and Emergency Preparedness, which they will update, as needed.

Throughout the year, we conduct a variety of drills (Evacuation/Fire Drill, Lock Down Drill, Missing Child Protocol Drill), so that everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency.  Teachers go over the General Response Protocols with students throughout the year.

Feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or an administrator with any safety related questions.
